A side dish that can be served with just about anything.
Ingredients
5 onions, peeled
2 cups cheese, shredded
¼ cup flour, all-purpose
¼ cup butter
2 cups milk
½ teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Recipe Instructions
Preheat the oven to 325F.
Prepare the onions.
Cut the peeled onions into thin slices and separate the slices into rings. Place the onion rings in an ungreased casserole dish.
Make the white sauce.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan and blend in the flour. Stir in the milk gradually and cook stirring constantly until the sauce has thickened. Add the cheese and stir until the cheese has melted. Season with salt and pepper and pour the sauce over the onions.
Bake.
Bake the mixture for 45 minutes until golden brown.
